Xpert Scheme

Concept

The selection was made with a view to the specific conditions in which the videos will be seen. The main determining factors are, firstly, that the cultural environment in which the works will be shown is different from that of art galleries and museums, and, secondly, that the space is small and the audience is likely to be large. On the one hand, the selection is based on works that relate in different ways to ideas of structure, order and synchronicity, carefully crafted and finished, as opposed to other styles of video art that rely exclusively on concepts or art historical references. This makes them interact more intensely with the proposals for the other containers, mainly made by designers, creating alternative meanings in their combination.

Layout

The videos were shown on a single screen, one after the other, with 20 seconds of black screen in between. During these breaks, the name and technical details of the video appeared on another screen to the side. The title and author of the videos were also written in glow-in-the-dark colour and were illuminated in such a way that, during each video, the corresponding information on the side wall silently glowed. A wall divides the room for better darkness and to minimise outside noise. On the outside of this wall, a small LCD screen showed the programme to those who entered the room.
