Electric wire and bulbs
This installation is one of a series I did at the time. It took place at the Galleria Moriarty in Madrid. It consisted of about 30 ladders made of electric wire and elongated light bulbs. The effect on entering the gallery was quite surreal, because of the amount of light and, as I discovered later, because the ceiling was lit up, unlike the usual practice in art galleries. The connections were live, so there was a slight risk of mild shock. The theme of the three installations was the lack of a metaphysical centre, in this case due to its abundance. The installation was later shown at EAST in Norwich (UK), where I had my first encounter with ridiculously over-implemented health and safety regulations. The images of an office space were taken there. The last picture is a studio test.
