Virtual Cemetery

1995
Photo Print

When I was living in Niagara and working on my previous project, I would pass this cemetery in Buffalo while I was working in Shroud and I would have to go to the fishmonger, the tailor or the photographer. A few days later, after finishing this work, I made a self-portrait in a fake "virtual reality" outfit. Years have passed, and this image has become more and more relevant to me, as it raises many ideas about art, representation, self-consciousness and death that have been on my mind in recent years. It depicts the artist as a figure between the top technician and the clown.
